Beautification Day Efforts Spanned Two Weeks

THANK YOU to All OUR Partners and Volunteers!

The rain may have thwarted our plans for the April 26th official date of Beautification Day, but thanks to a small army of committed volunteers, we worked together to clean up Milford for the previous two weeks!

On Friday, several individuals tackled problem spots along the trail, plus volunteers from four groups and businesses picked up trash around town, including Master Roof Inc., The Milford Youth Center, Milford Federal Bank, Planet Aid, plus members of Citizens for Milford.

Earlier this week a crew of volunteers from Seven Hills Foundation ASPiRE! took charge of the clean-up at Fino Field, and volunteers from Doubletree by Hilton of Milford picked up a section of Beaver Street.

And the week before, personnel from the Massachusetts Department of Correction worked on some of Milford’s most challenging areas on four days, including Route 140.

Of course, these efforts would not be possible without the assistance and support of our partners: Friends of the Milford Upper Charles Trail, Milford Highway Department, Milford Board of Health, Milford Parks Department, Massachusetts Department of Correction, Master Roof, and Greenleaf Garden Club. We also want to recognize E.L. Harvey for providing many supplies.

And even though the weather prevented their participation, we want to thank the Milford Lions Club and Rail Trail Flatbread Co. Milford for their generous offer to provide lunch and ice cream for all the volunteers.

🌎 As always, we encourage all Milford residents and businesses to be mindful of trash on your property and to help pick up whenever you can. Let’s all work together to beautify Milford!

Saturday’s Beautification Day CANCELLED

IMPORTANT!!! Unfortunately, Mother Nature is not cooperating with our plans for tomorrow’s Beautification Day. Due to the expected rainfall on Saturday, Citizens for Milford will only be distributing supplies TODAY. We are cancelling tomorrow’s event to ensure everyone’s safety. As always, we encourage all members of the community to be mindful of trash and to pick it up whenever you see it in your own neighborhoods.

If you can make it out today (FRIDAY, APRIL 25), we will be at the lot across from Sacred Heart Church until 1:00 p.m. with bags, gloves, vests, and suggested routes for clean up.

Thanks for understanding! PLEASE SHARE!

IMPORTANT Beautification Day Update!

Because Saturday’s weather forecast is looking rainy, we are offering everyone the opportunity to help clean up Milford TOMORROW, Friday, April 25, as well as this Saturday as originally planned.

Members of Citizens for Milford will be in the municipal parking lot across from Sacred Heart Church BOTH DAYS between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to give out supplies, assignments, and instructions. If it is raining heavily on Saturday, we will be there, but we may be taking shelter in our vehicles. Just look for the cars adorned with Citizens for Milford banners. Lots of folks have already been working hard these last two weeks to initiate our clean-up efforts. We hope you will join us too! PLEASE SHARE!

The Field of Flags Returning to Draper Memorial Park for Memorial Day

New Flag Sponsorships and Renewals
Now Being Accepted

Citizens for Milford and the Milford Corps of  the Salvation Army are excited to announce that the Field of Flags will return to Draper Memorial Park this May to commemorate Memorial Day. The flags are installed on three patriotic holidays each year (Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day) to honor the service and sacrifice of our veterans and active military personnel.

All area citizens, organizations, and businesses are invited to sponsor a 3′ x 5′ American flag to fly on a 10′ staff in Draper Memorial Park for a $40.00 donation. Previous sponsors are encouraged to renew their flag sponsorship for another year and will receive an enrollment form either by email or U.S. mail.

Sponsors can choose to honor a veteran (alive or deceased), an active member of the military, or all our nation’s veterans.

Each flag includes a yellow ribbon with an attached card naming the person being honored, the honoree’s military branch and years of service, and the sponsor’s dedication. Sponsors can personalize each flag by providing a photo if desired.

To sponsor a flag for the Draper Memorial Park Field of Flags, simply print and complete this form and mail it to the address provided with a $40 check made out to the Salvation Army BEFORE May 18. If you need a printed sponsorship form to be mailed to you, email us at  CitizensforMilford@gmail.com.

Important! A total of 210 flags can be installed, so Citizens for Milford urges everyone who would like to sponsor a flag to send their form and check as soon as possible.
