THANK YOU MILFORD!

Citizens for Milford and the Milford Farmers Market are grateful to the countless volunteers who came out Saturday, April 25th, to make our first Community Beautification Day such a great success!

Over 150 Milford residents started their day with coffee and donuts and then hit the streets with bags and gloves. Over 200 bags of litter were collected, along with numerous TV’s and other large items! Our efforts were preceded by work crews from the Worcester County Sheriff’s Department Community Service Program.

We also extend a HUGE thank you to Republic Services, our local waste management company, for their generous donation of $1,500, making our bags, gloves, t-shirts, and refreshments possible. Citizens for Milford also appreciates the assistance provided by the Milford Board of Health and the Milford Highway Department. And lastly we thank Milford Junior Girl Scout Troop 11276, which  collected fluorescent light bulbs as part of our Beautification Day efforts.

Now, let’s work together to keep our community CLEAN and BEAUTIFUL!

Demonstrate YOUR Milford Pride! Help Us Beautify Milford on Saturday, April 25th

Citizens for Milford and the Milford Farmers Market are organizing Milford Beautification Day, an opportunity for area residents, orgBeautification Day LARGE flyeranizations, and businesses to work together to beautify our community by picking up trash in downtown. Milford Beautification Day will be held Saturday, April 25th (rain or shine) from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All interested citizens are invited to meet us anytime between those hours in the parking lot across from Sacred Heart Church (5 East Main Street) to get supplies, instructions, and assignments.

Chairperson Amie Sanborn says, “We are organizing this event as a practical way we can all come together and demonstrate pride in our community. We encourage everyone who loves Milford to join us, even for just an hour.”

Families, community groups, churches, local businesses, and teenagers who need to perform service hours are all invited to participate. Younger children are encouraged to attend as long as they are accompanied by a supervising adult.

Trash bags, gloves, and water will be provided to all volunteers. In addition, free t-shirts will be given to the first 100 volunteers who show up. All supplies and t-shirts are being donated by Republic Services.

In conjunction with the efforts being organized for Beautification Day, Citizens for Milford has arranged for volunteers from the Worcester County Sheriff’s Department Community Service Program to initiate the Beautification Day work by conducting a clean up on April 23 and 24.

Anyone interested in volunteering or participating in any way on April 25—as an individual, a family, or a group—should contact Amie Sanborn by email at CitizensforMilford@gmail.com. Although it is not necessary to sign up in advance, Sanborn notes that having an idea of the number of interested participants can help ensure enough supplies are available.
