Citizens for Milford is thrilled to have created a Milford TV special programming  event, Confronting the Challenges of COVID-19 at Milford Regional Medical Center: Honoring Our Healthcare Heroes, a tribute to our community’s healthcare professionals. This special program highlights the exceptional work taking place at MRMC and the safety measures that have been implemented to ensure the best possible care and treatment during this ongoing health crisis. Healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, EMTs, and others on the front lines of the pandemic share their personal stories of courage and hope. Hospital administrators and leaders in the greater Milford community share their own perspectives.

Citizens for Milford Chairman Steve Trettel states, “It is such an honor for Citizens for Milford to work with our hospital and community leaders to create this unique program. Please join other area residents to watch this tribute to Milford Regional and its amazing, dedicated staff, who have been working tirelessly to protect and heal us during this pandemic.”

Over Twenty Special Guests Share Their Stories and Perspectives

Representative Brian W. Murray (10th Worcester District) and Representative Jeffrey N. Roy (10th Norfolk District) co-host the program.

Representative Roy states, “Extraordinary moments call for extraordinary measures, and our healthcare heroes at Milford Regional have answered the call. I’m thrilled to be a part of the effort to honor those who have stepped up, confronted the challenge, and saved lives in this process.”

Participating guests from Milford Regional include administrators, doctors, and nurses: Edward J. Kelly, President & Chief Executive Officer of MRMC; Robert L. Kilroy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Patrick R. McSweeney, MD, President, Milford Regional Physician Group; Judy M. Kelly, Vice-President of Patient Care Services & Chief Nursing Officer; Jeffrey Hopkins, MD, Medical Director of Emergency Medicine; Meghan Kelley, RN, Maternity; Jake Lovewell, RN; Christina Nadeau, RN, Oncology; and Gina Sabatini, RN, ICU; and Lynn Valencia, RN.

Representative Carolyn C. Dykema (8th Middlesex District), Senator Ryan C. Fattman (Worcester and Norfolk District), and Representative David K. Muradian, Jr. (9th Worcester District) participate as guests from the Massachusetts State House.

Community leaders interviewed include Jacquelyn Murphy, DrPH, MPH, Milford Director of Public Health; William D. Buckley, Chair, Milford Board of Selectmen; and Rev. Peter Joyce, Pastor, St. Mary of the Assumption Church.

Participating first responders include flight paramedic Nicholas North, RN, NRP, FP-C, C‑NPT, UMass Memorial Medical Center; Don Charest, Operations Manager-Paramedic for Community EMS Central MA with colleagues Kristen Allen and Shawn Jackson, who are both Operations Supervisor-Paramedics; Mark A. Nelson, Milford Fire Chief; William Touhey, Jr., Former Milford Fire Chief; and Michael A. Pighetti, Milford Police Chief.

In addition, viewers hear from Kenneth Joensson, who shares his inspirational story as the first patient to leave the hospital ICU after being treated on a ventilator for COVID-19.
